Yoga for every body.
I believe the practice of yoga should be accessible to everyone. Sometimes seeing images of yoga - difficult poses, certain body types - can be intimidating. I believe there are over 7 billion different ways a yoga pose can look because there are over 7 billion different bodies on the planet. My teaching incorporates clear cues, modifications and accommodations where needed - without judgement or expectation. You are encouraged to come as you are and make your yoga practice your own.
Yoga originated in ancient India. The word 'Yoga' is derived from the Sanskrit root 'Yuj', meaning 'to yoke' or 'to unite' - to connect.
As we practice, we develop a recognition and appreciation for the connection between breath, body, mind, and spirit.
We experience personal transformation through the mind/body connection - allowing for the pathway to peace to be revealed. In prayer we ask - in yoga and meditation, we listen.
My personal approach to the practice is integral - a balance between Pranayama (breathing), Asana (poses and movement) and Meditation.
By virtue of the practice of Asana - our bodies are naturally strengthened, and flexibility is increased. Pranayama teaches the art of focusing on breath and gaining the ability to calm ourselves naturally. In meditation we are able to observe our thoughts and feelings without judgement, to better understand ourselves and the world around us.
I hope you’ll join me to experience all that yoga can do for you!
